When you charter with Whitsunday
Charter Fleet, we can offer you the services of an AYF Instructor from
a selection of accredited sail training centres situated around Australia
(a list can be found on our links page under Sailing Schools.) If using
a local school the instructor may join you on your charter. or alternatively
you may wish to do a course prior to your charter. You can choose from
the following AYF accredited courses:
Introductory Course
During this one day practical course you will learn the fundamental
principles of sailing, safety aspects, chart recognition, steering and
compass use.
Competent Crew Course
While on this three day course you will learn basic safety rules and
regulations, use of safety equipment and emergency procedures, radio
use, introduction to navigation, weather, Aux engines, dinghies, ropework
also practical sailing and helming experience.
Inshore Skipper Course
This five day course is designed for the more experienced sailor who
wishes to be accredited as a coastal skipper competent in navigation,
skippering a yacht on a coastal passage and all the responsibilities
associated with this skill.
Your Instructor for these courses will be more of a sailing companion
rather than a school teacher, and they enjoy nothing more than showing
you the joys of sailing in the Whitsundays.
